Some of my favorite moments of the day happen before anyone else is awake.
The house is quiet, the light is soft, and for a few minutes the day feels slow. No toys scattered across the floor yet, no toddler asking for breakfast, no rush to get anything done.
Just coffee.
Lately those quiet mornings have felt especially meaningful. Life has been a little chaotic with moving, boxes everywhere, and trying to keep up with the everyday rhythm of motherhood in the middle of it all. But somehow, even in the mess, there are still these small peaceful moments.
I usually start the coffee before the sun fully comes up. The smell fills the kitchen while everything is still calm, and I take a few minutes to sit with a warm mug and breathe before the day begins.
Sometimes I read a few pages of a book.
Sometimes I just stare out the window and enjoy the quiet.
It’s such a small thing, but it feels grounding in a season of life that can be loud and busy.
Motherhood is full of beautiful chaos — toys, sticky fingers, laundry that never seems to end — but these slow mornings remind me to pause and soak it all in.
Soon enough little footsteps will come down the hallway, asking for breakfast and cuddles.
And the quiet will turn into laughter, messes, and another full day together.
But for now, it’s just coffee before the house wakes up.
And honestly, I wouldn’t trade these slow moments for anything.
